About EQwise
Thirty years of experience. A single point of contact.
EQwise is Martin de Smit’s agency. He built his first website in 1995; today, he ensures brands are recommended by AI assistants. You work directly with the specialist doing the work, without an account manager in between.
Short lines of communication. You always have the same specialist on the line.
Since 1995
Over thirty years of pioneering on the internet
That past isn’t just trivia; it’s primarily reflected in the way we work. Having observed for so long, you recognize patterns: which technical choices will backfire later, which hype will blow over, and which shift in search behavior actually requires action. A project like click.nl, once the world’s first online modeling agency, was uncharted territory at the time. Today, that sense of what’s coming is exactly what you get at the table.
For you as a client, this primarily means peace of mind. A single point of contact who oversees technology, content, and visibility, and who doesn’t sell every development as a revolution. We build what keeps working: a site that is technically sound, copy that takes your profession seriously, and growth that you can still explain two years from now. From webshops to international platforms, from Google to AI assistants. What we don’t do: run marketing on a system we can see won’t make it. In that case, we’ll tell you what needs to happen first.
How we work
Eight disciplines, one workbench
Experience only becomes valuable if you keep it current. Eight workstations, all at the same bench — what is created at one is tested at another.
What we stand for
Three promises to every client
Measurable results
No vague jargon, just numbers. Once the measurement system is in place, you see exactly what our efforts deliver in terms of traffic, rankings, and inquiries. Building that takes time and budget, which we agree upon with you in advance.
Honest and clear
Short lines of communication, clear agreements, and advice you understand immediately. We translate complex digital challenges into simple, effective solutions.
Ready for AI
We ensure you are found not only in Google but also in ChatGPT and AI overviews. SEO and GEO under one roof — provided your system can handle it. If not, we’ll let you know upfront.
Frequently asked questions about working with EQwise
Short answer: no. Fixed monthly price, can be canceled monthly, and you keep everything we have built.
Long-term contracts mainly exist to protect agencies from clients who leave because nothing is happening. That is putting the problem on the wrong side. If it works, you will not want to leave.
What you keep in any case, even if you stop:
- Your domain, your hosting, and your content — these are in your name
- Your website, on WordPress, which any other party can take over
- The reports, the keyword plan, and the audit
- Access to your own Google accounts, which we never put in our name
What does take time is the building process itself. SEO that stops after three months yields almost nothing — not because you are stuck, but because the clock is only just starting to tick. We state this upfront so that expectations are correct.
Short answer: the same overview every month in plain language, so you can see progress instead of having to assume it.
We consistently compare the same three things:
- Positions for keywords that generate revenue — not just the words we happen to rank well for
- AI mentions: whether assistants mention you by name in their answers, and in what context
- Traffic and inquiries, and which pages generated them
Consistent measurement every month is more important than a fancy dashboard. Changing figures and shifting definitions make reports incomparable, allowing any narrative to be spun.
What you will not receive: an export from a tool with fifty charts. Instead, you get a concise document detailing what has been done, what it has achieved, and what will happen next month. Every quarter, we assess whether the direction is still correct.
Short answer: decisions and expertise. We handle the execution.
Projects that stall almost never do so because of technical issues. They stall because a text is waiting three weeks for approval, or because no one can decide which service is the most important.
Specifically, we ask for:
- A single point of contact who can make decisions without having to consult internally first
- Expertise: we can write, but you know what customers actually ask and what makes them lose interest
- Access to the site, Search Console, and Analytics — or the willingness to set them up
- A response within one week to what we present. Faster is fine; later will increase the turnaround time
What we do not expect from you: an understanding of SEO. That is exactly why you hire us.
Short answer: with Martin himself. No handovers to a junior, no account manager in between.
This is a conscious choice and also the limit of what EQwise can handle. Having one fixed point of contact means short lines of communication and someone who knows your site inside out — but it also means we do not take on an unlimited number of projects at once.
In practice:
- You email or call directly, no ticket system
- A monthly report in plain language, no dashboard where you have to figure things out yourself
- The person who performs the analysis also executes it — nothing is lost in the handover
What this requires from you: one point of contact on your side who can make decisions. Projects that stall almost always stall due to decision-making, not technology.
