Moving without losing your rankings

A migration is the moment when a website has the most to lose. If handled incorrectly, years of progress can evaporate in a week. We migrate complex sites with AI support, ensuring that what worked continues to work and what was lacking is immediately corrected.

Fixed sequence: inventory, mapping, testing, go-live, verification.

Why migrations go wrong

In almost all cases we encounter, the problem does not lie with the new design, but with what was lost along the way.

  • URL structures change without redirects. Every old link that no longer leads anywhere is a page that drops out of the index and takes its authority with it.
  • Content is not fully transferred. Texts that no one missed during development often turn out to be the exact pages where visitors entered the site.
  • Technical signals disappear. Titles, descriptions, structured data, internal links, canonicals, hreflang. Invisible to the eye, yet decisive for findability.
  • No one measures it. Without a baseline measurement, you only realize months later that something went wrong, and by then, the cause can no longer be traced.

The transfer

Moving house without losing altitude

A migration is a lock: the site rises to a new level without anything going overboard. Content, links and rankings come along — the chamber is where redirects, tests and measurement happen.

The inventory

Counted before departure, and again on arrival

A migration goes wrong on what you did not count. So we record beforehand what comes along — down to the forms and the language links — and check every item once we arrive.

412PagesWith titles and metadata
1.860ImagesRecompressed
412RedirectsOne per page, checked by hand
7FormsTested with a real submission
2LanguagesIncluding hreflang linking

Everything is counted before departure and counted again on arrival. If one number is off, the site does not go live.

Our approach

1. Full preliminary inventory

We document the existing site down to the page level: all URLs, rankings, traffic, internal links, metadata, and structured data. AI performs the tasks where humans make mistakes—specifically, ensuring nothing is overlooked in a site with thousands of pages.

2. A redirect plan based on relevance

Every old URL is assigned a new destination that is contextually correct, rather than a collection of redirects to the homepage. Where pages are merged, we determine which one will be the primary page.

3. Migrate and verify immediately

After the transfer, we compare the new site line by line with the baseline measurement. Missing texts, lost metadata, and broken links are identified before visitors encounter them.

4. Measuring results, not relying on hope

During the first few months following the migration, we monitor rankings and traffic per page. If anything drops, we know exactly which URL is affected and what has changed.

Why a migration often results in a gain rather than a loss

Preservation is the minimum. The real gain lies in the fact that a migration is the only time you can clear out accumulated clutter at no extra cost.

  • Outdated pages that were competing with each other are merged
  • Slow technology disappears with the old system
  • Internal links are rebuilt based on the content structure, not by chance
  • Structured data is fully implemented, even where it never existed before

Whether traffic actually increases depends on the starting situation. A site that was already technically sound will primarily maintain what it had. A site with overdue maintenance has the most room for improvement. What we can state in advance is based on the inventory, not on a promise.
